Kazuyo's collection closes down on the 26th Mar 2011

First of all, I am so sorry for the big disaster in Japan. I have been worrying and watching the situation on online for a whole week. Tsunami, Nuclear accident was so sad.

I just pray...and I would like to ask you, please keep watching and supporting Japanese people.

In the world, everyday, there are many accidents and sad news around us.
So I always feel that I should do my best day by day, it's sometime JOY, sometime SADNESS.

But Joy and Sadness are only for us who are alive now on earth.

I will close down my shop next Saturday 26 Mar. I have learnt many things from my customers and accompany.

Gift shop is unique place.

It's not only buying gift place, I could see many person's life through my shop.

A young lady came and asked how to hold crane. she was nervous and shaking hands. It did not come from holding crane, she had a big event "she will see her nature mother on that day". This week, she came back and reported the event, her family got together. She had no more shaking, just happy beautiful smile!

Last week, Japanese young lady came with OZ. She worried about her family, her future life in Japan. I just could said to her "Please wait for a while, you just do your best day by day"

The person who has just broke up,

The person who has just got a boy friend,

The person who is going/coming back to Japan,

The person who is looking for job,

The person who is injured,

The person who wanna learn Japanese and Japanese culture...

These persons have many different reasons to come in my shop, but something related to Japan..

I like people as same as art and craft.

After I have finalised a couple of things, I will open my shop in Brisbane again.

If any chance to pop in Paddington this week, please pop in and share the last moment.

I really liked the fitting of the first shop.
I really shocked when I needed to move in the current shop.
It's happened just in a couple of month since I started my shop.
Now my shop is in a framing shop.

The shop owner helped me to stay in Paddington.

Since Moved to the framing shop, I missed my favourite parts -
enjoy Japanese teas with friends and customers,
social events such as tea ceremony, origami, calligraphy etc, ...
In addition, the limited new customers which is caused by
"My shop can not see from outside, HIDING SPOT such as hide and seek!!!"
However I got a beautiful window
and
I know how closer customers I have got.

I might have a break to set up my real place and refresh my work this year.

Until then, please enjoy my favourite tiny world which are always making by real handcraft, some of profession, most of hobby persons...But the works give some small happy feeling to you!!

Please do not forget the following is a bit retro to Antique Japanese homewares!

vintage kimono bag - step1

Today my favorite picture was gone to my nextdoor shop person. I wish all the time, I could have a peaceful mind.
I just started to unpick the kimono which already are damaged some parts and not wearable kimonos.
When kimono is old and textile is not enough strong, the unpicking is the hardest work and taking a long time.
The time is such as meditation. Gently and carefully, I am unpicking!

Sea creatures with Felted wool

Fly - already at the mid of Feb 2011. Starting with heavy snowing in Japan, Flood in QLD, and now earthquake at NZ. We feel something wrong on earth and hope everything will be on the track soon....

Here is "Sea creatures" by Jen Henzell. She knitted and felted the pure 100% wool.

The works is on the window at Kazuyo's collection until the end of Feb.

The works might lead you to a peaceful nature world.

I lost Camera last Dec, then I could not show any works. Yesterday I got new mobile. So I can take pictures with Mobile. But I am an dinosaur, so very hard to use new technology!!!

The quality of pictures are always not enough to show on blog.

However I wanna share the beautiful handmade works. Hope you can enjoy....

Kazuyo's collection - Christmas trading and Usagidoshi

Kazuyo's collection, Japanese art& craft, tea shop (98 Latrobe tce Paddington QLD) will reopen on the 22nd Jan 2011.

I finish my work at shop today. This year, I have had a great time with my accompany through a tiny shop(space).

Holding my hope, I will have a holiday with my daughter in Japan.

Our life is always "up and down" I am always learning how combine our ideas, how compromise betweens, how make a great harmony ..in my Brisbane life.

Usagi-doshi(Rabbit year)'s feature are;
combine our ideas for looking for the best way,
prioritises "human being right"
compromise....

I will keep trying to show some sense of value for "Japanese beauty" with my accompany.

Japanese vintage kimono beauty - why I have been making vintage kimono bags and others with vintage kimono. Because I can show Japanese beauty such as the four seasons, landscape, architectures, cultures easily on Vintage kimono textile's patterns.

Japanese vintage kimono beauty - 3R remake, recycle and revival, this challenge will keep in my mind.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2011!

(Illustrated by Akiko Fujii - my youngest sister)

All things has "FIRST STEP"
Let's try!
Once get your first step, it will produce some future...

Vintage kimono beauty 1910 - kimono bag

Hi, I have not updated my blog for a month, This month, I have been like a "Kimono destroyer"!
I made maybe about 50bags in 2 weeks. I was wondering if I am a kimono killer or kimono saver as a recycle works.

Anyway, tonight(actually midnight!), I made a bag with Taisho period(1910-) formal kimono.
I often talk about TOMESODE(EDOZUMA) and trade at my shop too.
I 100% fall in love in TOMESODE world this year. It's not bright such as Bride wedding gown, but there is a some mature beauty there such as mature lady! The picture's flowers in a Fan is not looks like an old fashion, it's modern and how beauty it is!
